Passengers on two recently announced semi-high-speed trains will receive train tickets. In the form of NFTs from the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation.

In honor of the Hindu holiday Holi. Indian Railways plans to offer nonfungible token (NFT) train tickets for two designated trains. That will head toward Delhi between March 20 and April 2.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) announced that it will use NFTs as train tickets for two recently introduced semi-high-speed trains. Tejas Express 82501 and 82502.

According to an official post from IRCTC:

“These tickets are not merely digital souvenirs; they are a celebration of the rich cultural tapestry of (the Indian cities of) Lucknow and Delhi.”

India hopes to improve visitors’ “journey experiences” by enabling public and official agencies to validate customized NFT train tickets created on the blockchain.

The project honors Holi, also known as the festival of colors, and NFTtrace, a digitalization platform, partially supports it.

The business will use smart contracts to control the traceability procedure and assist in maintaining the Hyperledger blockchain’s record of rail ticket purchases.

Every day. And More than 1.2 million tickets reserved on IRCTC might greatly boost the uptake of NFT if all trains in the area adopt the program. By digitizing tickets using NFTs, we will avoid the common problems of forgeries and misplacements.
