U.S. President Joe Biden’s laser-eyed social media posts following the Super Bowl are well-known in online Bitcoin circles, but his meme was not about cryptocurrency.

US President Joe Biden unintentionally became a Bitcoin (BTC) ambassador by posting a laser-eye photo of himself on his X and Instagram accounts.

The post, captioned “just like we drew it up,” was made 15 minutes before the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in the 2024 Super Bowl.

While Biden’s new laser-eye profile picture is most likely a continuation of the “Dark Brandon” meme, which his supporters use to tout his policy victories online, many crypto enthusiasts interpreted it as a direct reference to Bitcoin.

Bankless questioned what the post might mean for the ETH/BTC chart, while X user WhalePanda accused Biden of “cultural appropriation.”

The laser eyes phenomenon began as part of a social media campaign to drive Bitcoin’s price to $100,000 by the end of 2021, a goal that was not met. NFL star Tom Brady, Paris Hilton, and Elon Musk were among the most well-known laser-eyed personalities.
