Krutrim Si Designs, an Indian firm founded by Ola CEO Bhavesh Agarwal, has announced that the beta version of its Krutrim AI chatbot is now available to all users. The new chatbot, like Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s ChatGPT, accepts textual input and can answer questions.

Krutrim AI’s public beta comes barely a month after the startup received $50 million, making it India’s first indigenous unicorn. Bhavesh Agarwal announced earlier this month that the chatbot would be available to all last week, but the business appears to have delayed the launch for unknown reasons.

Krutrim comes in two versions: Krutrim and Krutrim Pro. The non-professional version of the AI chatbot can understand 22 Indian languages and react in ten of them, including English, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Tamil, and even Hinglish.

In terms of benchmarks for Indian languages, it performs slightly better than other models such as GPT-4 and Llama. For those interested, the Pro version is touted as a multi-model for enterprise use and will be available in Q2 2024. Agarwal claims Krutrim AI is trained on 20x more Indian tokens and reacts to voice instructions.

The startup also stated that Krutrim AI will be accessible in February, letting developers and businesses integrate their goods and services with the app. Krutrim AI now requires users to join up with an Indian phone number, so if you do not have one, you are out of luck for the time being.

How to Sign Up for Krutrim AI

  1. To utilize Krutrim AI, visit the website and sign up for the service with your phone number.
  2. Enter the OTP you received from Ola, then press the ‘Confirm’ button and select the language you want to use.
  3. A pop-up will display on the screen, warning users not to seek guidance from the chatbot and to double-check their facts.
  4. Click Okay, and you can ask the chatbot any question you want by typing it in the bottom bar.

The Future of Krutrim AI

As Krutrim AI gathers user data and feedback, its capabilities are expected to improve and evolve. Whether it becomes a dominant player in the Indian AI landscape or simply offers another option for users, its launch signifies a growing interest in developing AI solutions tailored to specific regional needs and languages.
