Ripple and Circle have teamed up to launch USD Coin (USDC) directly on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), a collaboration unveiled on June 12, 2025. This step marks a major leap forward in making the world’s second-largest regulated stablecoin fully native on a fast, efficient blockchain. With USDC now accessible without any bridging, users, ranging from fintech firms to developers, can harness its liquidity seamlessly via Circle’s Mint and APIs on the XRPL mainnet.
Ripple’s Senior Vice President Markus Infanger emphasized that stablecoins like USDC serve as vital connectors between traditional finance and crypto, supporting compliant, low-cost, and near-instant settlements. Meanwhile, Circle’s Chief Product Officer Nikhil Chandhok described the integration as an enabler for real-world apps, reinforcing XRPL’s role in fueling innovation across payments, remittances, decentralized finance, and seamless on‑ramp/off‑ramp experiences.

Built in 2012, the XRPL is a layer 1 network designed for reliable tokenization and exchange, now processing over 3.3 billion transactions without a single security breach and supporting more than 5 million wallets. Its decentralized exchange and auto‑bridging capabilities use XRP as a bridge currency, enabling efficient swapping with USDC and reinforcing liquidity while keeping transaction fees low.
Early adoption is already underway, with around $2 million worth of USDC minted on XRPL shortly after launch. As developers, businesses, and institutions begin to integrate this native support, the XRPL ecosystem is poised to benefit from increased utility and deeper stablecoin liquidity. The partnership also sets the stage for Ripple to continue deploying USDC alongside its stablecoin RLUSD in its flagship payment solutions, fortifying XRPL’s emergence as a mainstream foundation for digital finance.
