This software allows users to generate music directly from written descriptions, like “powerful rock” or “sad jazz,” and further customize the output to their specific needs.

Developed in collaboration with researchers from prestigious universities, Project Music GenAI Control offers more than just basic music generation. It empowers users with granular control over various aspects of the created audio. Users can adjust the tempo, structure, and repeating patterns within the piece, control the intensity and flow of the music, extend the length of specific clips, remix sections, and even generate seamlessly repeatable loops.

This level of control is likened to having “pixel-level control for music,” according to Adobe’s Head of Audio and Video AI Research, Gautham Mysore. This analogy emphasizes the precise and detailed editing capabilities offered by the tool, comparable to the level of control artists have when editing individual pixels in an image using software like Photoshop.

While Project Music GenAI Control is currently in the research stage and doesn’t yet have a user interface, Adobe’s vision is to make it part of their Firefly suite of AI-powered creative tools.
