Blockchain.RIO 2026 was a two-day conference and business fair at ExpoRio in Rio de Janeiro on 12 and 13 August, with a strong focus on banks, regulators and tokenisation.
Blockchain.RIO was founded in 2022 by Francisco Carvalho and held its fifth edition in 2026. The main event took place at ExpoRio in the Cidade Nova district and was the centrepiece of Blockchain Rio Week, which opened on 11 August with invitation-only sessions for regulators, central bankers and financial institutions.
The event has shifted from a crypto community festival towards institutional finance. Brazilian media reported debates on stablecoin regulation, tokenisation and the links between crypto and traditional banking, with regulators and state-owned banks among the participants. One track, the Blockchain Impact Summit, was run in partnership with UNICEF Brazil.

The week opened with a Financial Infrastructure Forum for regulators, central banks and large financial institutions.

Brazilian regulators, including the insurance supervisor Susep, took part in debates at the event.

CNN Brasil reported that regulation and the growth of stablecoins were central topics.
