BNB Chain, the blockchain network backed by Binance, unveiled a new rollup-as-a-service (RaaS) solution on March 14, 2024. This RaaS aims to simplify the process for projects to build custom layer-2 networks on the BNB Chain, specifically the BNB Smart Chain (BSC).

The service offers decentralized applications (dApps) the technical infrastructure needed for cost-effective, dedicated rollup deployments. Notably, the RaaS reportedly includes no-code deployment options, potentially making it easier for projects with varying levels of technical expertise to participate.

BNB Chain’s expansion into layer-2 solutions comes amidst a period of active development for the network. Earlier this year, they outlined their “One BNB” interconnectivity concept designed to bridge BSC with BNB Greenfield, their decentralized storage solution.

This strategic push towards layer-2 solutions is likely driven by the desire to address scalability challenges on the mainnet. Layer-2 networks can process transactions off-chain before periodically batching them and submitting them to the mainnet for security purposes. This approach can significantly increase transaction speeds and reduce costs on the main BNB Chain.

The new RaaS caters to a wide range of dApp functionalities, including those in the realm of decentralized finance (DeFi) and blockchain gaming. By enabling the creation of custom layer-2 networks, BNB Chain is potentially setting the stage for a more scalable and user-friendly ecosystem for various decentralized applications.
