Ripple has forged a strategic partnership with BDACS, a South Korean digital asset custody provider, to deliver secure custody solutions for institutional clients, specifically focusing on XRP and Ripple’s USD-denominated stablecoin, RLUSD, within South Korea. This collaboration is designed to cater to the growing demand for institutional-grade digital asset custody in the region, aligning with South Korea’s evolving regulatory landscape.
The partnership enables BDACS to integrate Ripple’s custody technology, providing a secure infrastructure for financial institutions to store and manage their digital assets. This move is particularly significant as South Korea’s Financial Services Commission (FSC) is increasingly open to institutional participation in the digital asset market, creating a favorable environment for such services.
Ripple’s custody solution aims to provide bank-level security, addressing the critical concern of asset safety for institutional investors. This partnership also supports the growth of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) ecosystem and enhances the usability of RLUSD, Ripple’s stablecoin. Furthermore, the collaboration intends to leverage synergies with Busan, South Korea’s blockchain regulation-free zone.
Ripple has also announced a roadmap for building an institutional decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem on the XRPL, which includes a permissioned decentralized exchange (DEX) and a credit-based DeFi lending protocol.
This move, combined with the BDACS partnership, signals Ripple’s commitment to expanding its presence and offerings in the South Korean market.
