BNB Chain has set a new benchmark in user activity, recording 51.6 million monthly active addresses on September 17. According to Token Terminal data, this figure surpasses the previous record set in September 2024.
The growing adoption is also reflected in the chain’s revenue and fees. Over the last 30 days, the network generated $13.2 million in fees, marking a 24% increase, while revenue rose 23% to $1.4 million. This indicates rising engagement across decentralized applications (dApps), DeFi protocols, and gaming projects.
BNB Token Hits $1,000
Alongside the spike in on-chain activity, BNB’s market price touched $1,000 on September 18, a new all-time high. The rally coincided with Binance founder Changpeng Zhao’s announcement of a planned $1 billion BNB Treasury Company, aimed at supporting institutional-grade projects.
Zhao referred to BNB as a “true utility coin” that powers trading discounts, yield farming, cross-border payments, and launchpad participation across both centralized and decentralized platforms. The initiative, backed by YZi Labs, will reportedly focus on a select group of high-quality blockchain ventures.
Ecosystem Expansion
BNB Chain now hosts over 1,095 projects spanning DeFi, NFTs, and gaming, with a total value locked (TVL) of $7.68 billion. Despite still being 65% below its 2021 peak, the network has retained its place among the top three Layer-1 blockchains by transaction count, trailing only Internet Computer and Solana.
Marwan Kawadri, Head of DeFi and EMEA at BNB Chain, credited the expansion to the chain’s 4 million daily active users and 625 million unique wallet addresses. He emphasized that the goal is to deliver a “CEX-like experience,” with transaction finality under 150 milliseconds, positioning the chain as a global settlement layer for digital assets.
Zhao’s Return?
Speculation is also mounting around Zhao’s possible return to Binance after he updated his X (Twitter) profile handle back to “@binance.” Zhao had stepped down in 2023 after a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice but continues to play an influential role in shaping the ecosystem.
