Tesla’s controversial Cybertruck has hit another snag, with not one but two recalls announced in June 2024. These latest issues come on top of previous concerns, raising questions about the electric pickup’s production quality.

The first recall targets the Cybertruck’s massive single windshield wiper. A faulty wiper motor controller could allow excessive electrical current to flow, causing the wiper to fail. This significantly reduces visibility during rain or other low-visibility conditions, posing a safety risk. Tesla will replace the wiper motor free of charge for affected vehicles.

The second recall addresses a loose trim panel within the truck bed. This panel could detach and become a road hazard for following vehicles. Tesla plans to address this by applying adhesive promoter and pressure-sensitive tape or replacing missing trim pieces as necessary, again at no cost to owners.

These recalls impact a significant portion of Cybertrucks on the road. Reports indicate nearly all the 12,000 trucks delivered since production began in late 2023 are affected. While Tesla assures no injuries or deaths are linked to these issues, the recalls add to concerns about the Cybertruck’s initial quality.

Earlier this year, Tesla recalled Cybertrucks due to a potentially sticking accelerator pedal. This latest incident follows a software recall impacting a wider range of Tesla vehicles, including the Cybertruck, where warning light lettering was too small for easy reading.

While Tesla addresses these issues, the Cybertruck’s future remains uncertain. The truck’s unconventional design has drawn both praise and criticism, and these early production problems could dampen consumer confidence.

Only time will tell if Tesla can iron out these kinks and establish the Cybertruck as a major player in the electric truck market.
