The Ocean Protocol (Ocean), a decentralized data exchange system, has postponed its highly anticipated Ocean Nodes Incentive Program.

According to an official blog post, the program’s launch has been rescheduled for August 29 to address “necessary back-end updates” and provide a fair experience for all participants.

The decision was made after the Ocean team found and rectified various issues with the monitoring system for tracking node uptime and reward eligibility.

The ONIP, designed to incentivize individuals and organizations to run Ocean Nodes, is a pivotal component of the Ocean Protocol ecosystem. Ocean Nodes play a vital role in providing decentralized data services and powering the Ocean Market, a marketplace for data assets.

While the exact timeline for the backend upgrades is still being finalized, the foundation has assured the community that they are working diligently to expedite the process. Once the upgrades are complete, the ONIP will be launched as planned.

The decision to delay the ONIP launch was made to prioritize the long-term success and stability of the program. By ensuring a robust backend infrastructure, the foundation aims to provide a reliable and secure environment for Ocean Node operators.

The Ocean Protocol Foundation remains committed to its mission of creating a decentralized data economy. The temporary delay in the ONIP launch is a strategic move to ensure that the program aligns with the evolving needs of the ecosystem and delivers maximum value to its participants.
