Google Maps is enhancing its user experience in India with a slew of new features. The platform has introduced Flyover Callouts, a feature that provides clear visual cues about upcoming flyovers, helping users make informed decisions on their routes. This feature is currently available in 40 Indian cities for Android users, with iOS support expected soon.
To address the challenges of navigating India’s complex road network, Google Maps has developed an AI-powered system to estimate road widths. By analyzing satellite imagery and Street View data, the platform can now identify and avoid narrow roads for four-wheeler drivers, providing safer and more efficient routes.
Initially, this feature will be available in eight cities, with plans to expand its reach. These updates come as Google Maps intensifies its competition with local rivals like Ola Maps.
The platform also announced additional features like EV charging station information and improved public transport integration to cater to the evolving needs of Indian users. With these enhancements, Google Maps aims to solidify its position as the go-to navigation app for millions of Indians.
