The Infinite Node Foundation (NODE), a nonprofit dedicated to improving digital art, has acquired Yuga Labs’ intellectual property rights to the legendary CryptoPunks NFT collection. The announcement was made by NODE on May 13.
Alongside the acquisition, NODE has secured a $25 million endowment, positioning it as the most well-funded nonprofit in the U.S. solely focused on digital art. “This firmly establishes NODE as a leader in the digital art space,” the foundation shared in a post on X.
While financial details of the deal remain under wraps, NODE confirmed that it has formed a new advisory board to guide the future of the CryptoPunks collection. This board includes original CryptoPunks creators Matt Hall and John Watkinson, as well as a representative from Yuga Labs, among other key figures in the space.
“Our mission is to create a robust, interconnected ecosystem where digital art like CryptoPunks can flourish — both in the digital realm and within the broader history of art,” NODE stated.

This move comes amid a broader shift in the NFT landscape, where the focus is transitioning from speculative investment to cultural preservation. Yuga Labs intends to preserve the legacy of one of history’s most influential digital art collections by transferring the CryptoPunks intellectual property to a nonprofit corporation.
