Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, has proposed a radical new idea for the pseudo-decentralization of entire cities. His plan involves creating a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that would manage the city’s infrastructure, governance, and services.

Buterin envisions a DAO that would be governed by token holders, who would have voting rights on decisions such as infrastructure projects, budget allocations, and policy changes. The DAO would use smart contracts to automate many of its functions, such as managing city services and distributing resources.
Buterin believes that this approach could lead to more efficient and transparent governance, as well as greater community involvement. He also argues that it could help to reduce corruption and inequality.
However, there are also significant challenges to implementing such a system. For example, it would be difficult to ensure that the DAO is truly representative of all of the city’s residents. Additionally, there is a risk that the DAO could be hijacked by a small group of token holders.
Despite these challenges, Buterin’s proposal is a thought-provoking one. It raises important questions about the future of city governance and the role of technology in shaping our communities.
