The new AI policy plan, published by the White House, outlines a three-pillar approach to secure America’s dominance in the global AI race. Among the key highlights are proposals to streamline approval for data centers, eliminate federal references to diversity and climate-related standards in AI development, and prioritize open-source innovation while reserving government contracts for elite “frontier” AI firms.
Energy and Infrastructure Take Center Stage
Recognizing the enormous computing power required by modern AI models, the plan seeks to accelerate the development of energy-intensive data centers by simplifying environmental permitting laws. These changes would allow such facilities to bypass strict regulatory frameworks under acts like the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts.
In tandem, the administration intends to boost the power grid’s stability by investing in next-generation energy sources, particularly nuclear fusion and fission, ensuring that AI progress is not throttled by power limitations. This includes fast-tracking energy projects that support high-performance computing infrastructure.
Dismantling DEI and Misinformation Filters
