The native cryptocurrency of TRON, TRX, is holding ground at $0.34 following the network’s community vote in favor of a 60% reduction in transaction fees—the highest cut since TRON’s launch.
Top Features
TRON Super Representatives voted to approve a 60% network fee reduction, which came into effect on August 29.
TRX is at $0.3429, down by 1.8% in the last 24 hours and more than 20% below its December 2024 high.
Technical analysis indicates neutral momentum, with $0.34 providing key support and $0.36 presenting near-term resistance.
TRON’s Biggest Fee Cut Yet
On August 26, the TRON Super Representative community cast their votes to reduce network fees by 60%, a decision subsequently approved by founder Justin Sun. The update was implemented on August 29 at 20:00 (GMT+8).
As Sun writes, although this adjustment could lower short-term revenue, it should increase user adoption and drive higher transaction volume in the long term. The community also committed to reviewing fee levels quarterly to ensure they remain sustainable and competitive.
Why It Matters
TRON already handles more than 3 million transactions per day at speeds exceeding 2,000 TPS, placing it at the top of stablecoin settlements—especially Tether (USDT), which represents more than 99% of its stablecoin volume.
Experts say that reducing fees will further consolidate TRON’s role in the $80 billion USDT market (DefiLlama data). Higher adoption might also further speed up TRX token burns and network income.
There was a pattern to be seen with Solana (SOL), which saw a sharp DeFi bump after it implemented significant fee cuts.
Technical TRX Outlook
TRX is currently in a neutral area with an RSI of 48. That said, short-term indications are bearish: the 10- and 20-day moving averages are sloping downward, and the MACD indicates a sell signal.
Support: $0.34 is an important level. A breakdown would take the token down to $0.33, meeting the 50-day EMA.
Resistance: First resistance is at $0.36. If TRX can push higher, the $0.37–$0.38 region might be tested.
Currently, TRX is consolidating with dulled momentum, and investors are observing carefully to determine whether the fee reduction will spark fresh demand.
