Since the launch of ChatGPT, we have already seen thousands of jobs being impacted within months. OpenAI, ChatGPT, and several other AI products are hitting the market, creating a panic in the labor market.
According to Goldman Sacks, AI could replace 300 million full-time jobs, but it will also create 97 million new jobs. AI could replace the equivalent of 300 million jobs.
Here are some of the jobs that AI is most likely to replace:
- Tech jobs (Coders, computer programmers, software engineers, data analysts)
- Media jobs (advertising, content creation, technical writing, journalism)
- Legal industry jobs (paralegals, legal assistants)
- Market research analysts
- Teachers and trainers
- Finance jobs (Financial analysts, personal financial advisors)
- HR and accounting
- Traders
- Graphic designers
- Data Analysts
Many fear that AI will replace programmers and coders. AI has the potential to automate certain tasks performed by programmers, but it is unlikely to replace the need for human programmers completely. While AI has made significant strides in recent years and can perform routine coding tasks, it lacks the creativity, problem-solving ability, and contextual understanding that human programmers possess.
Programming is a creative and problem-solving discipline that requires human insight, intuition, and ingenuity. Skilled programmers are able to think critically and come up with innovative solutions to complex problems, often by understanding the context and nuances of the code they are working with. While AI can assist programmers in automating certain repetitive or tedious coding tasks, it is still dependent on the data it has been trained on and lacks the ability to understand the bigger picture or the creative aspects of coding.
Media jobs, including new writing, editing, proofreading, and content creation, including video and data analysis, are already being replaced by AI tools.
Customer Service is another industry that is being impacted by AI. AI-powered chatbots can handle basic customer service queries, such as answering FAQs and directing customers to the appropriate department. While chatbots can save time and reduce costs for media companies, human customer service representatives are still required for more complex issues and to provide a personalized touch to customer interactions.
