Tether just announced that USDT (Tether’s stablecoin) is coming to RGB, a new protocol built on top of Bitcoin.
So, what does this actually mean?
- You’ll be able to hold and send USDT directly on Bitcoin, just like you do with BTC.
- Transactions will be private, fast, and even work offline in some cases.
- All this while staying super lightweight and scalable, unlike some older methods of putting assets on Bitcoin.
💡 In simple words: this is the closest USDT has ever been to feeling like a native Bitcoin stablecoin.
Paolo Ardoino, Tether’s CEO, summed it up well:
Bitcoin deserves a stablecoin that feels truly native, lightweight, private, and scalable. With RGB, USDT finally gets that.
Why it matters:
- Bitcoin is the most secure blockchain, but it’s not known for stablecoins.
- By bringing USDT here, Tether is giving Bitcoin users an easy way to transact with stability—without leaving the Bitcoin ecosystem.
This move could be a game-changer for Bitcoin’s future beyond just “digital gold.” 🌍💵
