The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has taken a significant step toward approving the listing of a new Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded fund (ETF). The SEC has initiated a public comment period on NYSE Arca’s application to list a Bitwise ETF that would track both Bitcoin and Ethereum.
This development marks a potential turning point in the cryptocurrency market, as it could provide investors with a more accessible and regulated way to gain exposure to these two major cryptocurrencies. The SEC’s decision to seek public comment indicates that the regulator is seriously considering the proposal and may be open to approving the ETF.
If approved, the Bitwise Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF would be the first of its kind to track both Bitcoin and Ethereum. This would provide investors with a diversified way to invest in the cryptocurrency market, reducing the risk associated with investing in a single cryptocurrency.

However, it’s important to note that the SEC has previously rejected several applications for spot Bitcoin ETFs. While this new development is encouraging, it’s still uncertain whether the SEC will ultimately approve the Bitwise ETF.
The public comment period will allow investors, industry experts, and other interested parties to provide feedback on the proposed ETF. The SEC will carefully consider these comments before making a final decision.
