The Katana Foundation has launched its private mainnet, aiming to address the persistent issue of liquidity fragmentation. Backed by GSR Markets and Polygon Labs, Katana’s initiative seeks to enhance yield opportunities for users by creating a more cohesive and efficient DeFi ecosystem.
Liquidity fragmentation has long been a challenge in DeFi, leading to inefficiencies and reduced returns for participants. Katana tackles this by aggregating liquidity across multiple protocols, including Morpho, Sushi, and Vertex, thereby offering users access to deeper liquidity pools and more predictable lending and borrowing rates. This approach not only improves user experience but also makes DeFi more attractive to institutional investors, a demographic showing increasing interest in the space.
Katana is here ⚔️
A DeFi-first chain with high yield and deep liquidity; deep enough to provide liquidity for the entire Agglayer ecosystem.@Katana is a paradigm shift—aligning apps, users, and chain revenue from day one.

Katana stands out for its VaultBridge protocol, which uses bridged assets on Ethereum for overdollateralized lending techniques. The yields generated are then routed back and compounded within the Katana ecosystem, providing users with enhanced returns. This method emphasizes sustainable yield generation over short-term incentives, addressing concerns about the volatility and reliability of DeFi returns.
Marc Boiron, CEO of Polygon Labs and a key contributor to Katana, emphasized the platform’s user-centric model, claiming that it converts inefficiencies into advantages, producing a win-win situation for all players. By reinvesting network fees and a portion of application revenue back into the ecosystem, Katana aims to offer consistent yields and act as a stabilizing force during periods of market volatility.
As the DeFi landscape continues to evolve, Katana’s launch represents a strategic effort to build a more resilient and efficient financial ecosystem, potentially setting new standards for yield optimization and liquidity management in the sector.
