While specific details about the advisory council are forthcoming, Adams revealed that a council chair and key policy recommendations would be announced in the coming weeks. This move aligns with his administration’s broader efforts to integrate digital assets into city operations. Earlier this month, Adams collaborated with financial services company Figure and private equity firms Traction and Scale to advance the city’s crypto initiatives. Additionally, the city is exploring the possibility of allowing certain services and taxes to be paid via cryptocurrency and utilizing blockchain technology to manage sensitive records, such as birth and death certificates.
Adams reiterated his commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive tech ecosystem, aiming to bring future jobs to the city today. He emphasized the importance of embracing emerging technologies to build upon the city’s economic success. Adams’s proactive approach points to New York City’s desire to lead digital innovation as the crypto scene develops.
