US-based sports betting giant FanDuel is preparing to step into the fast-growing world of prediction markets. The company announced that it will introduce a new platform next month in collaboration with derivatives powerhouse CME Group.
The upcoming mobile app, named FanDuel Predicts, is expected to go live in December. Through this app, users will be able to make forecasts on a wide range of outcomes — from cryptocurrency price movements to sports events and major economic indicators. The platform will feature event-based contracts tied to commodities like oil, gas, and gold, expanding FanDuel’s reach beyond sports wagering.
FanDuel CEO Amy Howe said the move marks a significant step into a dynamic and evolving sector, adding that CME Group’s long-standing expertise in derivatives and risk management will help ensure the platform’s reliability and transparency. The partnership aims to merge FanDuel’s strong product innovation capabilities with CME’s financial market know-how.
Prediction Markets Gaining Momentum
This expansion comes as prediction markets see rapid growth globally. A recent report from Crypto.com highlighted that the sector generated over $27.9 billion in trading volume between January and October 2025.
Competition in the space is intensifying:
- Gemini is reportedly planning to roll out its own prediction market products.
- Kalshi and Polymarket continue to dominate the market with record trading activity.
- Robinhood is also making moves in this direction after a strong Q3 driven by crypto and options trading.
Industry experts say the challenge will be maintaining responsible innovation while making prediction markets accessible to mainstream users.
