A new and highly sophisticated crypto scam has been uncovered. It targets unsuspecting users with a fake Zoom link. When clicked, the link leads to a webpage that closely resembles the video conferencing platform, creating a sense of familiarity and trust. However, this is a deceptive tactic designed to lure victims into installing malicious software.
The scam operates by making the Zoom-like page appear to be stuck in an endless loading loop. While users patiently wait for the page to load, the malware silently infiltrates their systems. Once installed, it grants cybercriminals unauthorized access to sensitive information, including cryptocurrency wallets and private keys.
A cybersecurity expert and NFT collector, known as NFT_Dreww, has issued a warning about this scam on X, formerly known as Twitter. He highlights the extreme sophistication of the attack and reveals that scammers have already managed to steal a staggering $300,000 worth of cryptocurrency using this method.
