EigenLayer, a protocol for liquid staking derivatives, has announced plans to support the restaking of layer-2 native tokens on its EigenDA platform. This development will allow users to earn additional rewards by staking their layer-2 tokens, expanding the utility of these assets beyond their native chains.
Introducing EigenDA Custom Quorums
What
Teams can now restake their ERC-20 token to secure a custom quorum for their rollup, unlocking stronger security for rollup users and token yield for token holders.

EigenLayer’s EigenDA platform currently supports the restaking of Ethereum staked ether (ETH). By expanding its support to layer-2 native tokens, EigenLayer aims to provide a more comprehensive solution for users looking to maximize their staking rewards.
The process of restaking layer-2 native tokens on EigenDA will be similar to restaking ETH. Users will need to deposit their layer-2 tokens into a supported EigenDA pool. In return, they will receive EigenDA tokens, which can be used to earn additional rewards by participating in various staking activities on the EigenLayer platform.
This development is expected to benefit both layer-2 users and the EigenLayer ecosystem. Layer-2 users will be able to earn additional rewards on their existing holdings, while EigenLayer will attract new users and increase the liquidity of its platform.
EigenLayer has not yet announced a specific timeline for the launch of layer-2 native token restaking on EigenDA. However, the company has stated that it is working closely with various layer-2 protocols to ensure a smooth integration.
