Bitget, a leading name in the crypto exchange world, is taking firm legal steps after a major trading anomaly involving the VOXEL/USDT perpetual futures contract. On April 20, the platform spotted unusual activity that pushed trading volumes to a staggering $12 billion, far beyond normal levels. Bitget suspended a number of accounts accused of taking advantage of the situation after this unexpected spike raised questions about possible market manipulation, as said in an April 27 X post.
Xie Jiayin, head of Bitget’s operations in China, shared that eight accounts are now under investigation for allegedly coordinating the manipulation, collectively pocketing more than $20 million. Legal notices are being issued to the individuals involved, while other traders affected during the VOXEL incident have had their accounts reinstated without further penalties.
看到有社区在讨论BG发出的律师函,我核实后,想跟大家澄清几个细节:
1、Bitget
Bitget has also pledged to return 100% of the recovered funds to affected users via airdrops. Meanwhile, an internal inquiry is ongoing to determine the main reason for the disturbance. Within the trading community, there’s growing speculation that a malfunctioning market maker bot may have been at the heart of the issue, giving an opening to traders using aggressive high-leverage tactics.
VOXEL, the utility token for Voxies — a 3D tactical RPG built on Ethereum — now finds itself in the spotlight. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges crypto exchanges face in preserving market integrity and the critical need for strong systems to prevent manipulation.
