Apple has taken a significant step by introducing Apple Maps on the web as a public beta. This long-awaited move marks a departure from the exclusive availability of the service on Apple devices. Users can now access Apple Maps directly from their web browsers, providing a more convenient way to navigate and explore.

The web version of Apple Maps offers a familiar experience, mirroring the functionality found on iPhones and iPads. Users can effortlessly search for addresses, obtain driving and walking directions, and discover local businesses with detailed information such as phone numbers, operating hours, and reviews. The platform even allows users to order food directly from the Maps interface, enhancing its utility.
While the initial launch focuses on core features, Apple has promised to introduce additional functionalities, including the popular Look Around feature, in the coming months. Currently supported on Safari, Chrome, and Edge for Mac and Windows, Apple plans to expand compatibility to more browsers and platforms in the future.
This development is likely to increase competition in the online mapping sphere as Apple Maps seeks to challenge the dominance of Google Maps. It remains to be seen how users will respond to this new web-based offering and whether it can successfully capture a significant market share.
