HP unveiled plans to integrate artificial intelligence across all its products at its annual Amplify conference in Las Vegas. The tech giant aims to gain an edge over rivals and adapt to hybrid work trends through AI capabilities.
Beginning this summer, HP will infuse AI into personal computers and printers. CEO Enrique Lores told partners from 95 countries that AI offers personalized experiences boosting employee productivity and collaboration flexibility.
Notably, HP’s next-gen AI PCs will run large language models locally rather than cloud-based. Lores cited speed and cost advantages, explaining “running it on the device” expedites creative workflows like image/video generation.
Running large language models on-device ensures faster performance and lower expenses compared to cloud AI models requiring massive server infrastructure. HP already sells AI-capable PCs like the Spectre x360 but now aims for AI integration at the foundational level with CPU, GPU, and neural processors.
